Woman Bashes Roommate with Sign Over Missing Girl Scout Thin Mints

There are people that beat their kids – and then there are people who beat their roommate, over their kids. The Girl Scouts have material for a new ad campaign after Thin Mints turn to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A Naples, Florida, woman has landed behind bars after giving her roommate a sound thrashing – all over a single box of Girl Scout cookies that was apparently deemed off-limits to her own kids.

It was a middle of the night brawl, started when 31-year-old Hersha Howard roused a sleeping roommate from bed in their Naples apartment. The accusation: a box of missing Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies.

As it turned out, it wasn’t the roommate who made off with the cookies – or at least wasn’t the one to ingest them. The roommate told Howard that she'd given the Thin Mints to Howard's kids, who had woken and were hungry for midnight snacks before 1 a.m.

The prospect of sleeping children may have been a good enough reason for Howard’s roommate to hand over the sweets – but she was obviously unclear as to the repercussions. The situation turned violent quickly, and not even the offer to pay an over-priced ten bucks for the missing Girl Scout snacks subdued the situation.

The roommate's husband wasn’t even able to hold Howard back. The man tried to intervene, pulling Howard away so that his wife could try to escape -- but the fight continued, through many stages.

Fists weren’t enough for Howard, who found a pair of scissors and continued to threaten the roommate over the missing cookies. The pursued woman made what was probably the wisest decision, with a sharp object involved, and booked down the stairs. Unfortunately for the roommate, Howard proved faster and crazier – picking up a board and hitting the woman as she tried to escape down the stairs.

The availability and easy access of a loose board, inside of a house, is nearly as baffling as the story itself.

Those Thin Mints must have been precious indeed, because the fight didn’t end there. Catching up to the roommate, Howard was able to knock her to the ground to hit her --then hit the woman with a sign once the fight rolled outside. Things didn't end before the Collier County Sheriff's Department finally made it to the scene -- making those Girl Scout Cookies perhaps the most expensive box ever, considering the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges now filed against Howard.

All said and done, the roommate didn’t even get a Thin Mint out of the deal. God knows what would have happened if it was a Klondike bar.
