Police Lost Box of Drugs Labeled Meth Left on Bumper Please Return

Police in Jackson, Wyoming, are requesting that people to be on the lookout for a black box with white lettering, reading "METH". If someone finds the box of drugs, the police would like it back--a sheriff’s deputy has kind of misplaced it. It seems that a deputy may have left it on a police cruiser’s bumper and, now, the meth stash is sort of gone.

Law enforcement apparently forgot to attach a note saying "if lost, please return"--but, to its credit, the Teton Sheriff's Office does seem to be quite adept and diligent in proper labeling techniques.

Contents of the box’s label do match description, the drug stash once used to train police dogs, before the meth was lost.

The Teton County Sheriffs Office in the Jackson area of Wyoming says that a deputy accidentally left the “METH”-labeled box on a police car’s bumper, following a K-9 training exercise on October 27. The sheriff’s deputy then drove off with the drugs perched on the police vehicle.

For any “finder”, the labeled box contains roughly an ounce of the drug methamphetamine.

Yes, it does appear that police officers—specifically given the task of removing drugs from the streets--are “giving back” to the community, in an unintended way. The sheriff’s office says it is taking action to make sure the mistake isn't repeated—as to what that “action” is, that answer remains a bit unclear.

Anyone with information about the missing box of methamphetamine drugs is being asked to kindly call the Teton Sheriff's Office. The term “counterproductive” seems to have been a bit unintentionally skipped: while law enforcement is requesting the missing box of meth drugs be returned, the sheriff’s office has simultaneously added the bonus statement that doesn’t quite add incentive for anyone wishing to actually make that call—police want to be sure the public knows that someone possessing the amount of missing meth would face a felony charge.

Keep those fingers dialin’.

In the meantime, for those on the lookout for the missing box of drugs, anyone with information regarding the missing 8-foot tall giraffe is also asked to contact the Teton Sheriff's Office. Law enforcement says "suspect(s) unknown stole an 8 foot wooden giraffe from the yard of a River Front Subdivision residence, south of Jackson" in September. The sherriff's office asks that "If you’ve seen the carved giraffe yard ornament, or know who purloined same, please call the sheriff’s office at (307) 733-2331."

If there's room in Jackson to hide an 8-foot, wooden giraffe--yet to be found--local sheriffs just might have to kiss that box of meth goodbye.
