Sheriffs have utilized a sex tape to identify burglary suspects filming their ‘togetherness’ on the floor of a Washington state home—recording the moment through using a previously stolen video camera, the couple interrupted by a visiting neighbor.

For a neighbor—who was checking on mail delivery for the Washington state residents who were out of town--a surprise was in store: a couple had broken into the residential home, making the decision that the floor was an optimal place to have sex, and keep a record of the event.

Grays Harbor County sheriff's office says that the naked man and woman immediately fled when discovered--apparently forgetting about the video camera set up, and left behind. Footage of the alleged burglars’ sex tape, intended for other purposes, in turn allowed law enforcement to identify those they say were involved in the break-in. The camera being used to record the sex tape, at the scene of the break-in, had previously been stolen in an unrelated incident. Deputies who later checked the then-rolling video footage were able to use the sex tape to identify suspects--recognizing the man and woman on video from previous contact with the sheriffs’ department.

The 39-year-old woman on video has been arrested for investigation of burglary—the man remains at large, arrest warrant issued for the 31-year-old.

No word on whether identifying tattoos played a role in law enforcement’s suspect ‘identification’.
