Man Killed by Own Cock in West Bengal Fighting

In a story of what goes around comes around, a man is killed by his own cock in Mohanpur, in West Bengal Singrai Soren, a trainer in cockfights, was killed by one of his star cockfighters. Longtime trainer to the fighting roosters, Soren pushed one rooster too far. The fighting rooster had won four previous fights. With razor blades attached to its feet, the cockerel was apparently done with fighting. Cockfighting trainer Soren was killed when the bird turned on its owner. Soren had reportedly tried to force the rooster back into the ring to fight, but the rooster repeatedly tried to escape. It seems the cock had had enough: "This upset it [the rooster], and it attacked Soren," says a now former friend. "He wanted him [the cock] to go into the ring within a few minutes of his first fight and that is when the rooster began to complain." The cockfighting trainer's throat was slit by the razor blades intended for fighting other roosters. Apparently the cock wasn't prepared to fight one more round. Witnesses say no one had even realized what had occurred. There's no honor among thieves -- not even with homicide. No one, but the person who stole it, knows the cock's current whereabouts. Police suspect a rival is sheltering the bird, to put it back into the ring as a champion cockfighter.
