Imperial Stars Band Blocks 101 Freeway in Bad Publicity Stunt

Imperial Stars, self-described as a "hard core hip-hop band" from Orange County, California, chose the exact wrong location to perform their latest song, "Traffic Jam 101." The band chose to block four traffic lanes—parking its large truck perpendicular to oncoming traffic, the California band performing literally on top of the bus.

Source of the jam was on the 101 Freeway in Hollywood on Tuesday morning—creating a (kind of) impromptu concert that irritated commuters who were stuck in the mess. Drivers stuck in the freeway traffic were not viewing the band’s members as “stars”—as traffic backed up for miles and miles. While the “performance” occurred in morning hours, sometime around 10:30 a.m, the truck wasn’t actually towed until noon.

Three of the Imperial Stars band members were placed under arrest by California Highway Patrol but the truck’s driver is said to have taken the keys and fled by separate car in order to avoid arrest.

The band had pledged on its web site that all money earned from the song will be going to Homeless Children America—obviously speaking too soon, now that it will need those funds for legal defense.

The Imperial Stars band claims the stunt was supposedly to help the Homeless Children of America--including donation button on the home page of their website. It's a bit unclear as to what the exact organization may, or may not, be.

According to their website, "The Imperial Stars are what they appear to be; ROCK STARS! Living on the Edge they’re known for getting crazy and hanging out with their friends. Living the dream on stage under the heat of the lime light, Orange County California based amplified sound virtuosos cement themselves as one of the preeminent entertainment groups in popular music. Dynamic synthesizers, authoritative drum patterns and mainstay power vocals that remind even the average ear of greatness, The Imperial Stars pierced themselves into the heart of music history."

Yeah--rock stars. Apparently the present-tense is too much for the band who "pierced themselves into the heart of music history."

In one word, "history".
