A Michigan couple adds a third child with a most unusual “coincidence” in birthdays: each of the three children has been born with consecutives birthdays of 08-08-08 09-09-09 and 10-10-10. Does the name “Barbie” mean anything?
The latest Soper family addition for parents Chad and Barbie Soper: daughter Cearra, born October 10, 2010. Soper daughter Chloe was born August 8, 2008 and son Cameron born September 9, 2009.
The Rockford, Michigan, family mom says "I thought it was neat numbers, something fun for the kids on their driver’s license–oh, your birthday has rhyming numbers," Barbie Soper said to NBC on its Today show.
"When the third one came around and it did end up on 10/10/10, I was surprised and I was happy because then the little one wouldn’t be left out."
The Sopers don’t plan on having a fourth, so 11/11/11 is not (at least currently) a consideration. Who knows, that could change depending on how much more media exposure the couple receives: the Sopers have recently appeared on NBC’s Today Show in relation to the 08-08-08 09-09-09 and 10-10-10 birthdays.
Asked about future plans of additional children, mom Barbie says, "Definitely no. We wanted three [children] and I'm glad we have that."
Are the Soper family births a bit manipulated? Well, maybe—read more at the attached Washington Post article regarding the Soper birthdays and some induced labor in the mix. Cearra Soper’s birthdate, the October 10 arrival, was actually slated for November 4, 2010, not October 10, 2010. Soper son Cameron’s birthdate originally slated for September 20—not September 09, 2009. First child, Chloe, arrived exactly on the scheduled due date of August 08, 2008.
It seems daughter Chloe may have begun a trend which the Soper’s were inclined to follow. Less than “coincidence” seems involved.
Perhaps more frightening, particularly in light of any possible birthday “manipulation” tactics: the fact that the mom’s name is “Barbie”. View the family photo to make your own call.
