From the land of 'the DA's office seems to have nothing better to do' comes the Chicago story of a guy prosecuted for stealing nacho cheese from a 7-Eleven pump. An attorney says the defendant was told it's "not yo" cheese.
A guy from Chicago buys a bag of chips from a 7-Eleven convenience store, then decides to add nacho cheese from a pump. Michael Richards, age 50, is apparently still in jail -- in lieu of $10,000 bail -- on robbery charges. Chicago-area prosecutors claim the guy began pumping nacho cheese, which he had not paid for, into the bag into the bag of chips he had paid for in full.
Reportedly, the 7-Eleven store clerk informed him the pump cheese was for customers buying it as part of a nacho tray -- and police say he allegedly responded with a threat and pulled the clerk's arm behind his back.
The cheese was apparently very important -- and a hot topic for debate.
When Judge James Brown asked, “So what was stolen was the cheese?,” the Chicago Sun-Times says Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Dan Piwowarczyk responded with a straight-faced reply: “The defendant was informed that it was 'not yo’ cheese.'” Who ever said attorneys don't have a sense of humor?
