Lindsay Lohan is running out of classes to help avoid jail time. Lohan's finally off house arrest after 35 days, and it's time to start class: anti-shoplifting class. The courts want the actress to learn how (potentially) not to steal. For those who didn't know such a class existed, it's real. Real enough to get rid of some legal woes anyway.

So now Lindsay Lohan's less the (monitoring) bracelet that defined her house arrest. Her electronic monitoring device was removed this a.m., so now the actress is "free" -- sort of.

There's still 480 hours of community service, plus terms of her release which includes an anti-shoplifting class -- related to a necklace Lohan claims she thought was on loan but the jewelry store claims it was indeed stolen. Lindsay had finally pled guilty to the theft charge, leading to a four-month jail sentence that began in May 2011. The jewelry store theft and related guilty plea had triggered a violation of Lohan's probation in a 2007 drunken driving case.

That 4 months became just over one -- or 35 days to be exact. The "no contest" plea and lack of violence meant the actress could serve the time locked up in her own home, in a move to reduce overcrowding in Los Angeles jails.

Just days ago, Lohan barely missed a snafu that potentially could have sent the actress back to an L.A. jail. Reports said the actress had failed a June 13 alcohol test. Fortunately for Lohan, Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner found in Lohan's favor at a late June 2011 hearing -- saying the actress was no longer required to undergo random drug tests, and had not been ordered by a previous judge to abstain from alcohol. So that positive alcohol test, it's all ok.

The 480 hours of community service may prove less difficult for Lindsay Lohan than required "coursework". Lohan hasn't done to well with classes of any sort -- particularly those related to court and legal matters. About a year ago the actress faced a potential jail sentence after missing nine, mandatory and court-ordered alcohol classes. And Lindsay just finished a drug rehab program, to help avoid some additional jail time. The actress has been in and out of drug rehabs at least five times in more recent years.

So now there's that anti-shoplifting class to contend with. It's just one -- here's hoping she makes it. The actress is kind of running out of alternatives.
