The “Fees Flood Gates” have opened: US Airways is charging a pretty penny – or 9,000 – doubling baggage and luggage to $90 increase to fly with the stuff you’re used to carrying. Customers aren't happy over the airlines' new fee hike and increase for over 50-lb bags is an overweight tier that costs customers double. Fees to foreign destinations can cost passengers up to an extra $400 -- $200 each way -- for any third piece of baggage taken to or from foreign destinations including Europe.
The US Airways airline is introducing a fee hike that virtually doubles the previous hefty, oversized weight fee. The new fee increase will cost travelers and frequent flyers a lot more: $90 bucks for what the airline deems as any pieces of oversized luggage, baggage or bags.
The US Airways baggage fee increase will begin March 1, just weeks away, and the newly-increased fee hike will apply to any piece of luggage or bag found to be exceeding the weight of 50 pounds (23 kilograms). US Airways previous oversized/overweight luggage fee was $50 dollars.
The new oversized luggage fee increase doesn’t stop there for US Airways: oversized or overweight baggage, or luggage pieces, weighing more than 70 pounds will now cost flyers $175 – the new fee increases raised from $100 dollars and applying to US Airways flights within the United States (U.S.), Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. Don’t expect the new fee hikes to end there: visit the US Airways web site, attached, to locate the newest higher baggage charges for other international routes.
Consumers are already complaining online, upset over the additional fee increase for overweight luggage.
Passengers flying to locations or from foregin countries including Europe or Israel can expect to take an extra $200 a hit, each way, per overweight or oversized third bag for any US Airways traveler.
