In The News

Rep Anthony Weiner has ditched a Wisconsin speaking engagement after the crotch shot--sent out as a tweet to Twitter followers--continues to dog the politician.

The scandal's been following Wiener since a photo first came on the scene: the pic of (someone's) private parts, in all their bulging glory, was sent to a 21-year-old, female college student in Washington state named Gennette Cordova. The woman has backed Weiner's version of events -- saying she's "a fan" of the congressman but does not personally know him.

Anthony Weiner originally claimed he'd been "pranked" in the lewd pic that went out via email. Later he referred to the incident as being "hacked". Weiner better just hope he doesn't end up "punk'd" -- by himself.

Anthony Weiner may be brash on the floor in the political arena, but could stupidity possibly match brashness? Stranger things have happened. That brashness doesn't seem to be carrying over well for the congressman who's become a stuttering mess with a lack of composure in dealing with more private matters:

"I am not going to permit myself to be distracted by this issue any longer," Anthony Weiner originally, arrogantly told a group of reporters. When one of those reporters specifically demanded a straight answer from Weiner about the photo and its contents, asking: "Answer the question: is the photo from you or not?," a clearly-rattled Weiner stutters. His eventual attempt to change direction only gets worse: "Permit me...do you guys [reporters] want me to finish the answer?" That "answer" from Anthony Weiner about the Twitter pic never came -- but he did clearly reveal his lack of composure on the video: "You do the questions, I do the answers -- and this jackass interrupts me."

It's all not faring well for the reputation of Anthony Wiener and the Twitter photo that could mar his political career. The congressman's now canceled his speaking engagement to Democrats.

When the scandal began, Weiner said "weiner jokes" have followed him his entire life. The new jokes may prove far more detrimental for the married man, who hasn't yet made it to his first anniversary with a wife who has continued to remain mute on the lewd photo in debate.

One of the oddest parts of the Weiner Twitter pic scandal includes the congressman's relatively mute factor on discussion of the photo source itself -- neither confirming or denying whether the Twitter photo is actually of him.

Perhaps he should've remained entirely mute.

Anthony Weiner's more recent statement to CNN raises additional suspicion about the Congressman and those parts in question: Congressman Weiner told CNN he could not be sure whether the photo, displaying some well-filled boxer briefs, was of him or not -- the politician adding that "any photo can be manipulated".

Weiner's response may be the most open-ended answer/non-answer to a question yet -- raising the bar for future politicians and a quest for vagueness in any possible sex scandal.

The Congressman appears to be making a valiant attempt to leave himself an adequate amount of any necessary "wiggle-room", in his CNN response about the Twitter pic. But on closer evaluation, the comment is certainly a strange one: in order to manipulate a photo, the person performing that "manipulation" would need to have an intimate knowledge of the subject. Aside from Anthony Weiner's wife, there shouldn't be a lot of sources as to where that comparison could come from.
