They'll serve you food, they'll employ you--but don't offer to pay Vermont's Wildflower Inn $35,000 for a wedding reception: Two brides from New York sue for violation of state anti-discrimination rules. The ACLU says the inn's guilty of discriminating against gays since 2005. It's the equivalent of a "no-gay-reception policy" from 'devout Catholic' owners. Read more

One woman has not had a good day: Facing domestic violence charges, Kentucky's Melissa Harvick attacks a judge, making a worthy attempt at assault while already in court over alleged abuse charges. It's not often a defendant adds two more legal charges--in court--to the current list of allegations but Harvick's upped the ante by adding contempt of court and terroristic threats. Read more
It's an unreal scenario: A Darien Lake Theme Park resort won't face criminal charges in the death of an Iraqi war veteran who literally fell to death from a roller coaster ride. It's kind of a big 'oops' that has one man wrongly jailed. While most inmates proclaim innocence, one man seems to have the right to do so: Prosecutors won a first-degree assault case which has kept a man in prison since 2006. It seems some judges are no less weird than the people they're trying in court: A South Florida traffic court judge has reportedly been snapping with a camera instead of slamming with a gavel. It’s the reason drivers should never get out of a broken-down car on the freeway: A Houston driver on Interstate 45 not only didn’t bother stopping after hitting a pedestrian—a man who was launched through the driver’s windshield—he kept driving until cops saw damage to his Mazda.
