A Chicago mom--specifically celebrating after news of dropped investigation by Department of Children and Family Service--is now battling new child endangerment charges: police encountered the vodka-fueled mother meandering down the street, carrying her 3-month-old son like a football.
Chicago police officers claim that they discovered 27-year-old Jamie Riley, the woman drunkenly holding a 3-month-old baby under one arm. While carting the son single-handedly like a football, the mother was simultaneously said to be struggling with a stroller—all on Harlem Avenue, during early evening hours.
Police say that the woman told them that she’d been drinking vodka—that she and her husband were celebrating, specifically after finding out that Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) had dropped an investigation into her infant son's safety. In the previous case against Riley, a DCFS spokesperson says investigators were unable to find credible evidence "to support the [DCFS ] allegations," the previous case and investigation against Riley deemed “unfounded”.
In this “go-around”, Department of Children and Family Services now has custody of Riley’s baby after police discovered the woman in action, streetside.
The 3-month-old boy was transported to MacNeal Hospital for what is called a “minor injury”.
The “major injury” in the boy’s life has been charged with misdemeanor child endangerment, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
