Posing as a police officer may not be the most uncommon ploy but a cop posing as someone else is more of a rarity -- especially when it involves an unusual occupation like "massage parlor inspector."

Anyone has to admit, a "massage parlor inspector" is definitely tops on the list for enjoying even more perks than a cop -- and the occupation doesn't seem like such a bad thing to be, that is if it existed. A Newport Beach California man is now facing charges for demanding a free rubdown in Lake Forest, south of the coastal city. Apparently the massage wasn't enough, the former cop attempting to pass 'Go' in trying to collect an extra $200 on top of the free services received.

Among the counts the Orange County man faces: ironically, "impersonating a peace officer." The whole story is more than a bit bizarre, considering that Edward Justin LaPorte was actually a former police officer in Illinois. Apparently LaPorte had a hard time parting ways with his former career in law enforcement. The man's accused of wearing a badge into the Golden Spa massage parlor at the end of January -- and informing the parlor's manager that he was supposedly investigating a complaint.

Prosecutors say LaPorte complained of back pain after entering the massage parlor and, it seems, employees got the gist. The man's complaint of pain was responded to by a masseuse giving the former cop a back rub. The end to free services, however, apparently drew near when the police officer asked for a frontal massage. That request was denied.

No word on where his frontal pain was located.
