Someone’s probably headed to prison—in a case that reeks of prior convications—in this instance, for allegedly locking his girlfriend in a dog kennel. In a case exemplifying a rather unusual method for dealing with, or maintaining relationship status, a 29 year-old man from St. Paul, Minnesota is facing four criminal counts and up to 38 years in prison. Equal to the alleged crimes, however, may be the mug shot.

Luke Brandon Scott is being charged with four counts including First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, making Terroristic Threats and False Imprisonment. The max for conviction on all offenses means Scott could face up to 38 years in prison and/or $65,000 in legal fines.

At about six o-clock in the morning of Monday, Sept. 27, St. Paul Police were called to a Super America store, following up on report of a domestic assault from a woman claiming she’d been held captive by the boyfriend she was trying to release. Police say the woman told an officer that her boyfriend, Scott, had been holding her captive throughout the night, had bitten her face and shoulder multiple times, and hit her in the face with a heavy bottle at his house after she’d broken a window while attempting to escape.

Events apparently followed her attempt to break up with Scott. The woman says she’d been at Scott's house the night prior--at around 10 p.m.--when she’d informed him that she intended to end their relationship. When she says Scott became upset and she attempted to leave the residence, the boyfriend allegedly pulled her inside of the house, locked the entry door, trapping her inside of the home and holding her captive. Scott allegedly then punched her in the face, forcing her into a large dog kennel. The woman says she later tried to escape but was unable to clear the surrounding backyard fence.

Scott’s roommate, say police, said he’d been drinking heavily and that the pair had been arguing earlier in the night. The woman says Scott finally agreed to release her—about 8 hours following the initial attempt for breakup, when she walked to a nearby gas station to call police.

Apparently Scott is a firm believer in safety—he told police that he’d refused to allow the woman to leave his house because he didn't want her drinking and driving.
