End of 2010 Tell it Like it Is Holiday Contest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wacktrap.com “The End of 2010 Tell it Like it Is” Holiday Contest

December 22, 2010 – Wacktrap (http://www.wacktrap.com) is celebrating the holiday season with tales of woe, mishap or mayhem through its “The End of 2010 Tell it Like it Is” contest.  ‘Wack’ entries are being accepted now through January 2: “Broken walls or broken balls, holidays go awry.  Share the best tale of holiday horror and Wacktrap will make you a semi-millionaire ( or at least put a hundred bucks in your piggy bank, to get you started).  You’ve got just 12 famous days (plus 2 for hangovers) to make it happen.”

“The Wacktrap contest banner is proving a bit controversial but, if you ask our users, they’ll tell you, it fits our audience,” says wacktrap.com creator and co-founder Shannon Miller.  “2010 has marked a lot of changes for a lot of people.  We’re devoted to wrapping up the year with a few good, well-deserved laughs.  The holidays are about sharing, and the most-shared ‘wack’ is topping our list.”  Entrants can find complete contest terms at the Wacktrap website online.

“We’re adding some fun to the holiday season. Wacktrap’s “The End of 2010 Tell it Like it Is” contest is centered around sharing the ‘best’ holiday-related personal tale related to Christmas and holidays of the season,” says Miller, “including experiences through New Year’s Eve.”  If that experience involves this seasonal time of the year, in the past or current, or through New Year’s 2011, the ‘wack’ is eligible for entry – and we want to hear your story.”  The Wacktrap founder says it’s a common misperception that no one else has encountered some serious holiday chaos related to family, friends or co-workers.  “We’ve all got family, co-workers, and the infamous holiday parties that surround this time of year.  That means we’ve all got a story.  The holidays are a beautiful time of year but all of us have our experiences -- some stressful, others funny, and some both.”  Wacktrap’s working to lighten this holiday season through connection and a good, solid dose of humor.

To add a ‘wack’ for contest entry, registered users simply click ‘Add Wack’, choose a category, plug in a title and enter their story.  Four options can be added to any ‘wack’: a photo, attached video, related online link and a document.  ‘Wacks’ entered into the “The End of 2010 Tell it Like it Is” contest must be submitted specifically to the Events, Holiday category for consideration.

“A ‘wack’ is your story, your experience,” says Miller, and can be intimately personal or business-oriented, based mainly on words or photo-based.  “If you’ve experienced, read it, heard it or seen it – and it’s laughable, unbelievable, absurd, ironic, outrageous, irritating, lousy, lame, infuriating, incredibly good or ridiculously bad, a bit bizarre or just plain crazy, you’ve got a ‘wack’.”   Wacktrap users can include 10 words or 10,000 in their ‘wacks.’  “It’s not about length, it’s about communication,” says Miller.  “Sometimes the most crucial communication is fast, or mainly visual.  Because other experiences can’t be summed up in a pre-determined, limited number of characters, Wacktrap provides users complete flexibility in length and communication style.

“Once you start playing with Wacktrap, it’s addictive, and fun.  That’s what we hear most and, fortunately, matches up to how we designed the experience,” says wacktrap.com co-founder Suzanne Ziesche. About 80% of Wacktrap users reside in the United States, with numbers spread across the nation and also concentrated in major and metropolitan cities throughout the U.S., including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.  Wacktrap continues to grow its international user base which is currently concentrated in the UK and Canada, and has seen a spike in international traffic over the past six months.  International user numbers have recently been boosted to nearly one-fifth of the site’s user base.
