Campbell's is recalling its Spaghettio's canned products--over 15 million pounds of the stuff--that's been recently cooked (or, rather, not) in a giant factory cooker.
Either the Campbell's factory cooker malfunctioned or a worker did--failing to work properly at one of the company's Paris, Texas, processing plants, leaving the Campbell's Spaghettio's pastas and meatballs undercooked and forcing the recall. Pasta--less problematic. Undercooked 'meat'--not so good. Apparently even those preservatives in canned Spaghettio's aren't enough to keep Campbell's from having to recall the goods.
Campbell's also says that, because the Spaghettio's cans weren't properly heated, the stuff inside could be prone to bacterial growth or spoilage.
Three different varieties of SpaghettiOs: SpaghettiOs with Meatballs in 14.75-ounce cans; SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs in 14.75-ounce cans; and SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars) in 14.75-ounce cans.
Affected Spaghettio's products for recall include the Campbell's-manufactured cans with freshness dates between June 2010 and December 2011 and stamped with "EST 4K". Campbell's says the canned goods should be returned to grocery store of purchase for full refund.
