Porn pays off for at least one group of guys holding the winning $129 million dollar “Powerball Lottery” ticket. It’s at least a three-way: no one's saying how many more than three but the group of recently-richer guys chipped in to buy the ticket at an urban porn store in Michigan, just outside of Detroit.
The winning group of lottery players has dubbed itself “Team Victory”—and victorious the team seems to be. It’s not yet clear whether the winning November 6 ticket was bought inside of the ironically-named “Uptown Book Store” or instead at an outside, walk-up lottery ticket window outside of the porn shop. The “Uptown Book Store” lies in a downtrodden part of a Highland Park neighborhood—the adult bookstore specializing in X-Rated magazines and pornographic videos.
The check’s not in the mail—the winning lottery funds have already been picked up by Mike Greer of Farmington Hills, a group member who didn’t physically buy the $129-million dollar winning ticket. The group's taking the lump sum now--still not a bad take, at roughly 69 million in profits.
True to porn store etiquette and “rules” of privacy, group members aren’t revealing affiliation with one another, or just how the winning lottery ticket holders know each other. As to the group's size, that too is being kept on the "down low": the only thing specified is that the number of guys involved with the winnings is more than two, fewer than one hundred.
Greer says he's in the "digital imaging business"--with no word on whether that digital imaging is related to the X-Rated porn industry. Despite the winning lottery ticket's Detroit origins, the group says that part of the winnings is being donated to a church.
